Teaching Pilates in a secure studio setting during Covid
Intelligent Pilates are committed to keeping their clients safe.
Clearing measures
All equipment used and floors will be wiped down after each session.
If clients have to share a piece of equipment, it will need to be wiped immediately after each use.
Clients will be asked to wipe down their mats and equipment used after each session (unless they are using and taking their own home).
Antiviral wipes and sprays will be provided as well as disposable bin bags.
The floor will be cleaned in between sessions with antiviral floor cleaner.
Handles and straps of certain types of equipment will be replaced with clean ones, for the next class.
The Room will be ventilated between sessions.
BYO Plan (Bring Your own)
Ideally, clients should bring their own mats and accessories if they have them.
Client’s health
Clients shouldn’t attend class if they are feeling unwell.
All clients should wash hands or use antiviral hand sanitiser before and after each class.
Teacher’s health
The teacher has a duty of care to check her own health before teaching and if in doubt, do not teach.
Wearing masks
It will be the client’s choice to wear, or not wear a mask, based on government guidelines. If wearing a mask, clients should bring their own to the class. Masks do not have to be ′surgical′; cloth face coverings are adequate. They should fit over the nose and mouth, and not be touched once in place. If you do need to touch the mask or face, clients should dispose of his/her mask, and replace it with a clean one, and then sanitise their hands.
Intensity and pace of the class will be adjusted if clients are wearing masks.
Gloves and tactile cueing
Tactile cueing is not possible until further government notice.
The teacher doesn’t need to wear gloves but, for clients it is optional.
Checking temperature
Temperature checking with a no-touch thermometer (thermal scanner) is optional, and will only be used if clients feel comfortable with it.
Additional considerations
Clients should bring their own water.
Food should not be consumed in the Retreat Studio.
The bathroom will be open.
Arriving and departing safely
15 minutes between sessions will allow the teacher time to clean all equipment, floor, mats etc. The teacher will encourage clients to leave on time, so that the area is cleared for the next session.
Session times need to be staggered so that clients can socially distance on arrival/departure.
The rule: First In, Last Out will apply. For example, the first client to arrive, places their mat in the far corner of the room. The second client will be positioned nearer the door, so being the first to exit.
New Clients
New clients should complete and submit an electronic Client Enrolment Form. Please contact Olga to email you a form, if you need one.
Laying out the studio
There will be 4 square metres per person for Duet and Trio Studio Sessions, with space for the teacher to guide clients safely through the session.
Equipment will be arranged to minimise the incidence of clients exercising face to face.
Remember, the best way to prevent the spread of the Covid infection is frequent hand washing and social distancing.
